Wilson Ave. borders the property on the east and W County Road 19E (Namaqua Ave.)
borders the property on the west. The Wilson Avenue and county Road 19E Right-of-
ways contain water, sewer, telephone, cable TV, and overhead electric with a city
sanitary sewer main paralleling the city electric transmission line along the northern edge
of the Larimer Pits. Additionally, the West Third Street right-of-way contains a city
sanitary sewer main. The West Third Street right-of-way runs east and west along the
northern edge of the Big Thompson Farms Subdivision which is being added as a part of
this amendment. This sanitary sewer main runs between parcels 5 and 6.
Wilson Ave. is within 200 feet of prior excavations and within 200 feet of the proposed
Cell 21 which is being added as part of this amendment. Existing ponds on the south
side of the river were mined prior to the construction of Wilson Ave. The area abutting
Wilson Ave. north of the river has been reclaimed to an approximate 200 foot setback
from the road.
Ponds 1 and 2 which have been reclaimed on the south side of the river are within 200
feet of County Road 19 E.
There are no gas or oil wells or lines on the property.
c) The existing topography of the area with contour lines of sufficient detail to portray the
direction and rate of slope of the affected land;
Much of the site lies in the Big Thompson River terrace with slopes relatively flat gently
sloping to the river. The site is an existing gravel pit that has been under operation (see
attached Exhibit F) with the additional parcel on the southern boundary that has been and
will continue to be farmed up until it is mined.
d) The total area to be involved in the operation, including the area to be mined and the
area of affected lands;
The site is an existing mining operation with much of the area already mined and
successfully reclaimed. The adjacent parcel that will be added with this amendment, Cell
21 contains approximately 15 acres and will be mined upon completion of mining in Cell
20 which contains approximately 7.75 acres, after completion of mining in Cell 18 which
is nearly complete and Cell 19 containing approximately 10.8 acres. See attached map
labeled Exhibit C2 for the proposed mining plan for Cell 21.
e) The type of vegetation covering affected lands;
The majority of the site is an existing mining operation. However, those areas not yet
mined, are vegetated with alfalfa, native hay grasses, and drought tolerant native species
in the reclaimed areas.
