SPECIFICATION NUMBER: <br /> Climax Molybdenum CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION 03 30 00 SPE <br /> A Freeport-McMoRan Company TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION PROJECT NAME: <br /> CAVR Shaft Closure Project <br /> 6. All materials used in construction of the work shall have been verified as <br /> being in accordance with the Design Drawings, this Specification and any <br /> referenced specifications. <br /> 7. The compliance with all sections of this Specification shall have been <br /> inspected and approved by the Engineer or Owner before any concrete is <br /> placed. <br /> D. Access <br /> 1. The Contractor shall have provided adequate access walkways, safety <br /> barricades and facilities, and adequate access ways for concrete delivery <br /> vehicles or conveyances. Under no circumstances will concrete chutes or <br /> conveyances be supported on reinforcing steel. <br /> E. Formwork <br /> 1. The Contractor shall be responsible for providing suitable and adequate <br /> formwork to meet the safety requirements and the required quality of the <br /> finished work. The material to be used for formwork shall be selected by <br /> the Contractor as being the most suitable for the specific work involved in <br /> strict accordance with the Design Drawings. The formwork shall conform <br /> to the shapes, lines, elevations and dimensions of concrete shown on the <br /> Design Drawings. The latest issue of ACI 347, "Guide to Formwork for <br /> Concrete" shall be used as a guide. <br /> 2. The forms shall be constructed, shored, braced and tied to maintain their <br /> position and shape during and after placing concrete. They shall be <br /> sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of mortar. The forms shall have <br /> adequate stiffeners, wales and braces to prevent noticeable deflection or <br /> waviness. <br /> 3. Contractor shall prepare a specific job safety analysis for the installation of <br /> formwork within the shaft and will be solely responsible for the safety of <br /> all individuals constructing the formwork and working in the area of the <br /> open shaft. <br /> 4. The forms shall be constructed so that exposed concrete will have smooth <br /> surfaces free from offsets, fms or other unsightly defects. Forms which are <br /> reused shall be thoroughly cleaned of dirt,hardened concrete or undesirable <br /> adhering substances and they shall be patched, repaired and finished to a <br /> smooth surface without broken or chamfered corners. <br /> 5. Form release agent shall be applied to the surfaces of forms to be removed <br /> following placement, before placing reinforcement.
