1) Returneddownspoiled fill from the slope below to the North Pit bencharea. <br />Downspoiled material wasused to partially backfill the bench area and sandstone scarp. <br />A large tracked excavator wasemployed for this task, sited on an intermediate bench <br />below the main bench. <br />2) Movedthe recovered spoiled fill material to the base of the bench adjacent to the <br />sandstone at the inside edge of the bench using the tracked excavator. <br />3) Movedboulders and cobble material from the bench area to the inside edge of the <br />bench prior to backfilling. This was undertaken with a bulldozer andtracked excavator. <br />4) Loaded and hauled needed fill from the Permanently Reclaimed Spoils Area below the <br />North Pit. Backfilling lefta 30 foot wide bench with the North Pit backfilled againstthe <br />sandstone scarp to a grade of 3H:1V (see Cross-Section Map). This task was <br />accomplished with trackedexcavatorand articulated dump truck team. <br />5) Regradedthe North Pit bench fill to final contour with a bulldozerand motor grader. <br />6) Loaded and hauledtopsoil from Topsoil Stockpile #2,coveringthe entire North Pit <br />bench fill area and downslope areawith eight to twelve inches of topsoil. <br />7) Regraded and spreadthe topsoil. <br />8)Seeded and mulchedthe North Pit area as described in the revegetation plan. <br />North Pit Haul Road Reclamation <br />The North Pit Haul Road provided access to the North Pit during the operation of the <br />Carbon Junction Mine. Pre-reclamation disturbance consistedof the 40-60 foot roadway <br />and outslope material. <br />Reclamation of the North Pit involved the following tasks undertaken between May and <br />August 2006: <br />1) Loaded and hauled needed fill from the Permanently Reclaimed Spoils Area. <br />Backfilling left a 30 foot wide road surface with roadside slopes backfilled to a grade of <br />3H:1V (see Cross-Section Map). This task was accomplished with tracked excavator and <br />articulated dump truckteam. <br />2) Regraded and finish graded the sideslopes, outslopes, and road surface. <br />3) Loaded and hauled topsoil from Topsoil Stockpile #2, covering the entire North Pit <br />Haul Road sideslopes and downslope areas with eight to twelve inches of topsoil. <br />4) Placed large sandstone donnikers on the roadside slopes for wildlife habitat.
