August 20, 2015 <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety <br />Department of Natural resources <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Geotechnical Analysis <br />For the Rio Grande S&G Mining Permit <br />To whom it may concern: <br />On June 11, 2015 1 visited the site known as the Superior S&G Pit, Permit # M-1979-189 to <br />perform a Geotechnical Analysis. Following are my findings. <br />The soils are fluvial sand and gravels from Murphy Creek which is adjacent to the site. The <br />water table is close to the surface, which allowed the pits to fill with water which formed <br />existing ponds. During the previous mining operation, some of the fines and excess sands were <br />pumped back into the ponds, eventually providing natural areas for migratory birds. The <br />surface of the site was disturbed as a result of the mining operations.
