Map King II 007A
11. There is a great deal of visual information on this map. Generally a map should not
have more than 7 separate layers on it, more than that is too much information. To
make it legible and easier to use please make the following changes:
a. Please orient all text horizontal from left to right, eliminate upside
down, sideways etc. text.
b. All elevation values should read from left to right with map facing up.
Maybe offset them from each other a bit.
c. Make sure text is not obscured and under other layers
d. Please remove the crosshatching for the basins, but keep outline
colors for each basin (maybe with a thick line, and do also keep the
directional flow arrows).
e. Please indicate acreage for each basin (use one font color for all
acreage, e.g. dark blue), or on the map provide a table indicating
each basins area.
f. Please remove symbology from the map that is not pertinent to the
map (dots at right edge of map, red line with x's, green curly que
lines, etc.). This map focuses on hydrology.
g. Symbolize any natural streams
h. In the legend, please call out all symbols used on the map
i. Map needs a North arrow and a scale e.g. 1" = 100' or whatever it is.
j. What is the symbol for culverts? Please put symbology for culverts in the
legend and make sure all culverts are symbolized on the map. You do
a great job of calling out the culverts.
k. You show manholes on the map. It is unclear where they outlet. Please
indicate on the map or in a table where manholes outlet.
I. I was unable to verify culvert lengths for the culverts listed below. Please
indicate where on the map the following culverts begin and end:
a. C7
b. C9
c. C16
d. C17
Mag Kinci II 007B
6. To make this map legible and easier to use please make the following
changes:
a. Orient all text horizontally from left to right, eliminate upside down,
sideways etc. text.
b. Consider reducing the font size on the ditch labels
c. Please increase the font size for the culverts, elevations, station and
cross section marks.
d. All culverts along the Clear Water Ditches are called out with their diameter.
At the top of the West Clear Water Ditch, culvert C-18 is called out. The
diameter of C-18 is not indicated here. Please, call out the diameter of C-
18 at its location on the map.
Adequacy King Coal Sept 2015 Page 2
Prepared by: R.
