July 28, 2015 C-1994-082/Yoast Mine JHB
Culvert YB-2 needs sediment cleared from the inlet. The outlet of this culvert is clear. A healthy patch of Canada
thistle is well established at the outlet to Culvert Y132 and needs weed control.
YPM-21, YPM-21A, and YPM-21B in the North Pit were all holding up well. Surge tanks on the east side of the
North pit were dry. Musk thistle was patchy but infrequent on the east side of the north pit. Weed control of the
larger patches is warranted.
Stock tank 11A was holding water but water elevation was approximately 1 foot below the discharge elevation.
YPM-9 and YPM-10 both looked fine with no maintenance of either of these two large permanent drainages.
ST -1 was holding a cloudy pool of water several feet below the discharge spill way.
YPM-1-2 was walked the legnth to stock tank 12A. The access route adjacent to YPM-1-2 used for equipment
access dor previous repairs has limited vegetation establishment. Limited application of approved seed mix is
needed to keep this strip from becoming a site for invasive species establishment. (Weed control measures).
SCC was spraying a large patch of Musk thistle on 7/28 on the east side of YPM-1-3. YPM-1-3 drainage was in
good condition and holding up well.
YPM-18 and YPM-19 were both in good repair. YPM-6-1 remains in good condition as well.
A Spring was noted emerging in YPM-6-1 just to the south of where YPM 6-1 enters the undisturbed treed area.
(North of YPM-19). Referral to Exhibit 7-1 indicates that this may be a surface expression of YSPG4. Another
spring was noted further south in YPM-1-3 that appears to coincide with YSPG5. The northern spring (YSPG4)
had a healthy flow. No effort was made to measure the flow rate as the flow was within the rip rap of the
permanent channel.
Stock tank 12A was holding a stagnant pool of water. Although the water level was approximately 4 feet below
the riser elevation, a slow drip was seeping from the outlet of the riser. SCC needs to investigate if there is
seepage occurring within the embankment.
Pond 12 was discharging. The pond 12 flume is not level.
YPM 5-1 to the south of stock tank 12A is holding up well.
Neither pond 13 or 14 were discharging though both ponds held water.
ROADS — Rule 4.03
Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4); Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6):
The main access road to Pond 10 was in good condition.
A large patch of Jointed Goatgrass is still present on the north side of the LU -1 at the location of the reclaimed
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 7
