July 28, 2015 C-1994-082/Yoast Mine JHB
facilities area, Exhibit 12-1. This noxious weed patch needs fall control, and permanent seed after control to keep
the site from being re -invaded by invasive species. This patch of Jointed goatgrass is approximately 250 ft. long
by 90 ft. wide.
Light use roads throughout the reclaimed site were holding up well.
Repairs to the gully are still needed along YPM 3-2 just west of the shrub plot. Close out with Scott Cowman
indicated that repairs are scheduled mid-August.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The shrub plot on the east side of the fence along the saddle of the North Pit has a healthy invasion of
Musk thistle. The inspector encountered Dennis Bugay representing SCC. Dennis was spraying weed patches
throughout the mine site and sprayed this patch on 7/28.
There was a patch of Canada thistle on the north side of YPM-6-2. This location was pointed out to Dennis Bugay
while he was spraying for noxious weeds on other portions of the mine. A small patch of Perennial pepperweed
was observed in YPM 6-2. Dennis B. was informed of this patch. He indicated that he already had it slated for
control.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
Vegetation on the South side of the north pit is very good with good diversity.
Early season moisture has resulted in very healthy and robust vegetation throughout the reclaimed area.
Accordingly, weed species have also benefited from the additional moisture. SCC is continuing to implement
weed control measures throughout the Yoast mine site.
Boxelders transplanted along YPM 6-3 are surviving well.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
SCC needs to update mine identification signs around mine site with current phone number. The number
shown on the signs is no longer valid. A sticker with the appropriate contact number would be appropriate.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED:
OTHER (SPECIFY): NA
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 4 of 7
