Miranda Blomquist of SCC accompanied
the inspection and represented the operator. The mine is a reclaimed surface mine. Weather was clear and dry
with light cirrus clouds plresent. Temperatures were warm. Cattle are not present on the reclamation in
anticipation of vegetation sampling to be conducted in Early August.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
Records were verified at the Peabody Sage Creek Office. Summary of records is found on the final page
of this report.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
Three Mule deer were noted grazing along the mine access road near Pond 10. Ducks were observed
feeding in Pond 10. A small herd of Elk were observed in the undisturbed area south of the North Pit. A Jack
rabbit was flushed out of YPM-6-2 drainage. There was evidence and sign of Elk in this drainage as well.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments
4.05.6, 4.05.9:
Pond 10 held a pool of water. The Flume for Pond 10 has still not been reset. Discharge was estimated to
be about 1& 1/2 inches through the lowest weep hole on the riser. This was a low flow through the riser.
The Pond 10 embankment still has patches of Jointed Goatgrass. Weed control efforts will be necessary this fall to
manage this noxious weed. Bare patches o the embankment may act as weed re -invasion sites. Broadcast seeding
of permanent seed mix on the bare patches should be part of the weed control effort. Sheep move across the pond
10 embankment, as can be seen by the plentiful tracks. Until the Goatgrass is controlled on the embankment,
driving livestock or vehicles over the embankment will continue to spread the seeds of this noxious weed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 7
