3.0 Water Information. Rights and Augmentation
Details of the water use on site are presented in Exhibit G - Water Information.
Although the mine will encounter water in the mining operation, no additional water surfaces will be
created that have not been on site for decades, therefore, no well permit application with the State
Engineer's office will be filed. It is planned that some ponds will be left for the post -mining land use.
Water for processing, dust control and materials handling will come from two sources that the Alma
Placer Mine has on the site:
1) All water available from the pump at the "Point of Diversion" in the South Platte River as shown on
Map C-2. This right is owned by the Trust and allows water extraction up to 5.0 cfs. The gold operation
has used this source in the past mining and processing activities.
2) The Operator also can use the Columbia Ditch located immediately east of the permit area. Two existing
takeoff ditches bring water to the permit area. This ditch can also be used to supply the site only to the
point that the combined flow from both sources does not exceed 60.0 cfs.
The water rights for this property are more than sufficient for any possible use. The documents are
included in Appendix A - Right of Entry.
4.0 Park Countv Impacts and Environmental Impacts
The Alma Placer operation dates back to 1868 and has been worked intermittently since that time. During
initial permitting in 1979 with Timberline Resources and Reclamation Resources in 1985, the town of
Alma and Park County have been actively involved with the permitting of the site. Input into the
operation plan, hours of operation, dust control, etc. have been discussed. The following measures are
to be employed for the 2003 amendment that should make continued operation of the site better than any
previous operation:
Alma Place Mine 01/15 36
