Therefore,no additional volume is
needed to complete re-topsoiling using the substitute material. Of the 28.7 disturbed acres in the north
mine area, 2.8 acres will remain as ponds and 2.8 acres will remain as roads, therefore, only
23.1 acres will require the substitute fines. Using a 4.5" average thickness, this requires 13,976 cy.
This amount already exists in the fines piles. This is the minimum volume that will be stockpiled at either
of the two locations (Piles #1 and#2). It is also the volume that will be required to be spread at the end
of the mine life.
The gravel operation generates approximately 750 cy of fines per 100,000 tons processed. Since the
operation will process 130,000 tpy, the fines produced per year is 975 tons. Therefore, over the 15 year
life of the gravel operation, it is expected that 14625 tons of fines will be produced, which is more than
enough to cover the 23.1 acre area to be reclaimed with at least 4.5 inches thickness. The Trust will make
every effort to increase this thickness and will salvage and use all fines that can be reasonably obtained
from the sediment collection system.
Alma Place Mine 01/15
