As the operation proceeds, fines from the processing plant will be used to provide a substitute topsoil on
all previously disturbed and unreclaimed areas. This amount will be an average 4.5". When virgin areas
are mined, all topsoil will be stripped and either immediately replaced on the previous cuts in reclamation
or will be stored in topsoil stockpiles which will be immediately stabilized with vegetation and will later
be used in reclamation of the site.
At the end of the mining life, the following equipment will be dismantled and hauled off site:
• all fuel tanks
• west portion of shop/office building
• piping,portable conveyors,pumps, etc.
• camp trailers
• portable plants
• pump house
The power poles will remain for the post-mining land use. The smoothing of the final cut lake, the
sediment pond area and the processing area will then take place, and all remaining disturbed areas will
be topsoiled.
It is expected that the following acreage will require smoothing at the end of the mine life:
• 8.5 acres of processing area (Assume 15,000 cy)
• 5.5 acres around final pit lake (Assume 26,000 cy)
• 1.5 acres miscellaneous disturbance in tank storage area, etc. (Assume 4,000 cy)
• 2.5 acres around Pond#2 area and fill Pond#2 (5,800 cy)
• 600 linear feet of 8'high berm along Highway 9, spread over 2.0 acres, (2,840 cy)
Total area to be smoothed or graded: 20.0 acres. The total volume to be moved in smoothing (grading)
is 53,640 cy.
It is expected that all of the area smoothed will be topsoiled in addition to the camp area of 3.4 acres,
therefore, the total to be topsoiled is 23.4 acres. This acreage is also the total to be seeded and mulched
at the end of the mine life.
The spreading of fines will occur from the existing fines piles, located near the processing plant area.
