April 29, 2015 C- 1982 - 057 /Seneca II -W Mine JHB
development of this gully.
Drainage PM 2A surge tanks PM 2A -3 and PM 2A -2 were discharging a small flow. Some rilling was occurring
along the south side of PM -2A -2. Runoff from rills was directed into PM -2A -2. Stock tank T -27 was holding a
good pool of water. T -27 was discharging into the drainage. Surge tanks PM -2A -1 was discharging as well.
Drainage was holding up well and discharges to PM -2.
PM -213 appeared to be functioning well. No significant gullying was noted in PM -213.
PM -2 spring was flowing well. The rock wall at the south end of the spring has collapsed into the spring. SCC
needs to observe this as the spring flow lessons to assure that the spring does not continue to cut back into the
regraded slope.
A deep rill has formed on the slope south of the spring and north of the 2006 BB riparian shrub plot. This rill
needs to be repaired and kept from continuing to head cut.
PM -3 drainage appeared to be holding up well, with no signs of side cutting, or under cutting. No new gully
formation was observed in the PM -3 drainage basin.
Pond 16 was discharging clear. SCC uses bucket & stopwatch method for determining flow rate from Pond 16.
Sediment and vegetation is deposited in the flume. Maintenance of this flume is needed. The outfall pipe was
repaired previously. The embankment vegetation is recovering from the previous repairs. The embankment was
not eroding.
006 Gulch was holding up well with no evidence of side cutting or undercutting could be observed. Stock tank T-
5 was holding water and appeared fine.
Drainage 006 -EI appeared fine as well.
Repairs to PM -41) have held up extremely well. Rip rap rock down the channel remained in place and had not
washed or rolled downslope. The road crossing over PM -41) remained well graveled and dry. There was no
evidence of runoff washing over the road was noted. Culvert PM- I 1 appeared to have handled all flow
adequately. The reshaped side slopes had held together very well and perennial vegetation was emerging.
The reshaped rip- rapped drainage east of drainages PM 4- A, B, and C was holding up well. Rip -rap had held
together in the drainage and had not washed out. This reshaped drainage handled the snowmelt and subsequent
runoff well.
Drainages PM -4, PM -4A, PM -413, and PM -4C all held up well too.
Pond 009 was inspected. The pond was holding a pool of water, though well below the discharge elevation. No
livestock were in the Pond 009 area yet this season. No problems were identified with Pond 009.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 3 of 9
