April 28, 2015 C- 1994- 082/Yoast Mine JHB
Annand draw was flowing well at Culvert YB -6. Some bank cutting of the road way overlying YB -6 has
occurred. This cutting is limited and is not impacting the function of the culvert. SCC needs to monitor this
spot and repair if the downcutting increases.
YPM -10 and YPM -9 are holding up well. Fall 2014 repairs to YPM -9 near Pond 11A are holding well. Pond 11A
was holding water but not discharging.
The drainage between Pond I IA and Pond 11 was walked. No new downcutting had occur ed, and the drainage
appeared stable.
Pond 11 was holding water but well below the discharge elevation. Vegetation on the pond outslope was stable
and not eroding. No problems were noted with Pond 11.
ST -9 was holding a very small puddle. Most of the runoff runs through this surge tank to YPM -8. Runoff was
flowing through ST -9 into YPM -8. The road crossing at YPM -8 and the repairs to the rock lined channel are
holding p well. ST -9 embankment had good vegetative cover. Noxious weeds were not observed to be
troublesome at the ST -9 site.
At the top (northern extent) of YPM -7, a gully is beginning to form. It appears to be a result of winter
snowmelt. No apparent water source remained at the time of the inspection, and there was no runoff flowing in
the gully or drainage when it was observed. GPS data was collected and will be sent separately to the operator.
The gully consisted of 2 branches. The first was approximately 12 feet long and —1 to 1.5 feet deep. The second
branch was longer at —20 feet long and was cut down to approximately 2 feet deep. The gully stopped at drainage
YPM -7 and surge tank is immediately downslope. Brush packing may be an appropriate stabilization for this
gully. SCC needs to manage this gully from continued downcutting. This surge tank was mostly dry and was
holding a small puddle of water.
YPM -7 was in good condition below the surge tank.
Pond 12A was holding water but was not discharging. No problems were noted with pond 12A.
Stock tank 1 (ST -1) was holding water, though water elevation was below the dischage elevation. No problems
were observed with ST -1.
YPM -1 -1 was in good condition with no undercutting of the rock gabions or side cutting of the rip rapped channel.
Pond 14 was holding a clear pool of water but was not discharging. Vegetative cover on the Pond 14 embankment
was good.
Pond 13 was discharging. Discharge from Pond 13 measured —0.10 on the staff gauge on the flume.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 3 of 7
