i
(b) Post - Mining Land Use Comparison With Other lands in this Vicinity
The post- mining land use will be pastureland, the same use as the pre- mining use.
The lands in this vicinity consist of some farmland and some pastureland. There are no
Enacted land use programs in this area that would affect this operation.
(c) Description of How the Reclamation Plan Will Meet Requirements
All applicable requirements for reclamation will be met and they are outlined within this
Reclamation Plan.
(d) Topsoil and Overburden Segregation, Preservation and Replacement
The average depth of the topsoil at this site is 2 feet. The average depth of the
overburden is 7 feet but 3 feet of this will not be stripped and it will be used in the
base course product, leaving an average of 4 feet that will need to be stripped.
Once enough room has been developed by mining, the overburden material will be
placed in the excavated pit area rather than being stored in stockpiles. Approximately
50% of the overburden will be salvaged and stockpiled while 50% will be placed back
into the excavated pit area immediately after stripping. All of the topsoil will be salvaged
and stored in stockpiles.
The topsoil and overburden will be salvaged and stockpiled utilizing a scraper. The
overburden material will be compacted during the stockpiling in an effort to reduce any
possible erosion. The topsoil will be stockpiled with as little compaction as possible to
avoid any loss of soil characterization. Both the topsoil and overburden stockpiles will
be seeded to help prevent erosion.
The reclamation seed mixture is listed in the Reclamation Plan under section (f) ii,
Seeding. This seed mixture will be used on both the overburden and topsoil stockpiles.
E -2
