IRIS MITIGATION AND DESIGN, INC.
IRIS 2022 Arapahoe Street
MITIGATION AND DESIGN, INC. Golden, Colorado 80401
Environmental Consulting Phone: 720 - 272 -1985
bleisure @irismitigation.com
seeded areas during the summer of 2013 (see Table 4). Following the Flood, greater than 80
percent of these seeded areas were destroyed by scouring from flooding, deposition of cobble,
rocks, sand, and soil, and by landslides from steep higher slopes collapsing. Of the 0.25 acre
seeded mitigation areas, approximately 0.04 acre of seeded area remained such that 85
percent of the seeded areas were destroyed by the Flood (see Table 4).
ISeeded Areas in 2014
The following summarizes the 2014 seeded area conditions according to 2014 transect and plot
data collected on September 18, 2014 (see Tables 4 and 5).
Area 1 (0.09 Acre Restored Upland Area)
Area 1 was covered by a soil landslide during the 2013 Flood. The upland area was cleared
and has been re- vegetating since this time. Transect and plot data show that the area is re-
vegetating with approximately 37 percent desirable native and non - native species on average
and approximately 63 percent weedy and bare areas. This 0.09 acre area had less than 20
percent vegetation in 2013 after the Flood. It is therefore slowly recovering since the Flood. As
described in the "2013 Phase 1 - Mitigation Monitoring Report", this 0.09 acre seeded mitigation
area will be spot seeded as needed in 2015 or at the end of Phase 2 construction during overall
site reclamation. Weeds will be managed during the 2015 growing season and beyond as
needed.
Schwartzwalder Mine Phase 1 — 2014 Second Annual Mitigation Monitoring Report Page 5
March 2015
