SECTION 5.8: WASTE MANAGEMENT <br />WM 4: Liquid Waste Management <br />WM 4: LIQUID WASTE MANAGEMENT <br />Description Practices to be used in order to minimize and prevent liquid waste associated <br />with construction activities from entering storm drains and watercourses. <br />Applications Facilities or designated construction work areas where liquid waste is <br />generated. <br />Limitations <br />Standards and <br />Specifications <br />• Does not apply to solid waste management (BMP WM 2), hazardous <br />wastes (BMP WM 5), concrete slurries /wastes (BMP WM 1), dewatering <br />operations (BMP GP 1), and sanitary/ septic wastes (BMP WM 3). <br />Does not apply to non - stormwater discharges permitted by the CDPS <br />permit held by CDOT. The following group of non - stormwater <br />discharges are not considered to be illicit or illegal unless the discharges <br />are identified by CDOT as sources of pollutants to state waters: landscape <br />irrigation, diverted stream flows, rising groundwater, uncontaminated <br />groundwater infiltration to separate storm sewers, uncontaminated <br />pumped groundwater, discharges from potable water sources, <br />foundation drains, air conditioning condensation, irrigation water, <br />springs, water from crawl space pumps, footing drains, lawn watering, <br />individual residential car washing, and flows from riparian habitats and <br />wetlands. <br />• Disposal of some liquid wastes may be subject to regulations or <br />requirements of other CDPS permits secured for the construction site. <br />• The contractor shall oversee and enforce all liquid waste measures and <br />will instruct all employees and subcontractors on the identification of <br />hazardous and non - hazardous liquid waste, and non - hazardous <br />handling, storage, and proper disposal. <br />• The contractor shall hold regular safety meetings to ensure proper liquid <br />waste measures are being adhered to and efforts are being made to <br />minimize the amount of liquid waste produced. <br />The contractor shall ensure compliance with all liquid waste management <br />procedures and practices. <br />5-92 <br />
