No County facilities will be impacted.
Products from the Blue Valley Pit (Pit) will be used exclusively for the above referenced project. No
other commercial enterprises will operate from this location. The proposed location includes a
maximum of 30 acres of disturbance and will be reclaimed as described herein.
Operations:
Schedule: Activities within this site are expected to occur between February 2015 and July 2017.
Reclamation activities will begin as soon as practical and is anticipated to begin prior to December
2016.
Working Hours: Normal working hours at the site are 6:00am through 8:00pm, Monday through
Saturday excluding holidays and weather days. Minor maintenance activity will occur between 8:00
pm and 6:00 am and will be staged in a manner to minimize. any disruption to local residents or
wildlife. Kirkland Construction has a good neighbor policy which requires our project personnel to
purposely consider our neighbors when planning any potentially disruptive activities.
On rare occasions, night work may be necessary to complete critical elements of the project in the
interest of public safety. These periods will be well communicated to The local residents and will be
kept to an absolute minimum.
Extraction and Aggregate Processing: After stripping and stockpiling topsoil in accordance with the
reclamation plan, sands and gravels will be extracted and processed through a rock crusher, screening
plant, and portable wash plant as may be necessary to meet the specifications for the project. All
equipment will be properly permitted for operation in the State of Colorado.
Materials expected to be processed include, Aggregates for Base Course, Paving, Backfill, and
Concrete.
Hot Mix Asphalt: Prior to commencement of paving operations, a portable Asphaltic Concrete "Hot"
Plant will be mobilized and set on the site. Bulk Asphalt, and Hydrated Lime will be blended with the
processed aggregates to produce Hot Mix Asphalt for roadway surfacing.
The final product will be hauled from the site directly to the project without entering any public
roadways outside of the project limits. Appropriate flagging and traffic control will be in place before
hauling activities commence.
Ready Mix Concrete: A portable ready mix concrete plant will be mobilized and set on the site.
Portland Cement and admixtures will be blended with the processed aggregates to produce Ready Mix
Concrete necessary for construction of the wildlife crossings and other minor concrete appurtenances.
