These activities
will take place on 30 acres of Blue Valley Ranch's property located near the center of the project.
Exhibits showing the exact location are attached.
Discussion:
Blue Valley Ranch has been an upstanding resident of Grand County and the State of Colorado. They
have committed significant resources to promote the improvement of State Highway 9 between
Kremmling and Dillon. Their commitment to allow the successful contractor to utilize resources
immediately adjacent to the construction project has been the critical element needed to allow this
project to be built both economically and logistically.
The cost savings realized by the State of Colorado due to the generosity of Blue Valley Ranch has
literally saved this project from cancellation due to lack of funding. As a result, when this project is
completed, Colorado's precious wildlife resources as well as the travelling public will enjoy safer
conditions within this nine mile piece of Grand County. The overall goal of this project is to
substantially reduce the number of injuries and fatalities to both humans and wildlife along this stretch
of SH9.
In addition to the cost savings realized at bid time, Grand County will also realize future savings from
this source through significant reductions in heavy truck traffic on local roadways outside of the
project. It is estimated that over 38,000 fewer heavy truck loads on other County roadways will be
necessary as a result of Blue Valley's generosity.
