2014 Weed, Pest and Disease Inspection
During my inspections of the site in 2014 I did not identify any disease conditions at any of the
reclaimed or revegetated areas within the coal mine permit area. I did not identify any plant
pests which had affected the growth of the vegetation during this growing season. No areas
which experienced any infestation or blight were found during the inspections. No patches of
noxious weed species were observed, nor were any areas observed where weeds, plant pests, or
disease showed a deleterious effect to the live vegetation. Scattered individual weed plants were
encountered within the mine permit boundary (predominantly musk thistle, and one small
grouping of leafy spurge). Oakridge Energy contracted for spraying of scattered noxious weeds
in 2014 at the coal mine site. The most recent spraying took place during the late summer of
2014. These were cut and disposed of.
f). Permanent revegetation as described in the mining and reclamation plan has occurred at the
Carbon Junction Mine at all disturbed areas of the mine slated for revegetation.
Additional Information
The renewal application for a valid existing coal mining and reclamation permit (RN04) was
submitted to CDRMS January 22, 2013 and found complete February 1, 2013. The final
approval for the renewal became effective June 10, 2014.
Permit Revision 01 was submitted to CDRMS on September 30, 2014 and found complete
October 9, 2014. CDRMS provided preliminary adequacy comments on the application
December 8, 2014 and Oakridge Energy is currently in the process of preparing responses. The
permit revision addresses retained reclamation features, a revised post - mining land use, and
revegetation standards for the coal permit.
Disturbed Acreage
By the end of calendar year 2014, all of the surface disturbance attributable to coal mining
operations during the life of the mine was reclaimed to final configuration or released from
reclamation obligations. Previously, 74.94 acres of mine disturbance was Phase I and II released
and 15.31 acres Phase III released.
The CDRMS annual reclamation report form is appended.
