2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations <br />(ii) Distribute plant groupings to maximize benefit to fish and wildlife. <br />Plants should be grouped and distributed in a manner which optimizes <br />edge effect, cover, and other benefits for fish and wildlife: <br />Applicant - There is no benefit to fish and wildlife from plant groupings in <br />the greasewood vegetation type. The benefit to fish and wildlife will come <br />from achieving 90% of premining plant cover. <br />Q) Where cropland is to be the postmining land use and where appropriate <br />for wildlife and crop management practices, intersperse the fields with <br />trees, hedges, fence rows or areas of natural vegetation throughout the <br />cultivated area to break up large blocks of monoculture or to diversify <br />habitat types for birds and <br />other animals; and <br />Applicant - Not applicable. Cropland is not the postmining land use. <br />(k) Where the primary land use is to be residential, public service, or <br />industrial land use, intersperse reclaimed lands with greenbelts utilizing <br />species of grass, shrubs and trees useful as food and cover for birds and <br />small animals, unless such green belts are inconsistent with the approved <br />postmining land use. <br />Applicant - Not applicable.
