2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations <br />Applicant - Steam channel buffer zones will be established as required in <br />4.05.18. Rule 4.20.4 is not applicable to the loadout operation. There are <br />no stream channel diversions proposed under Rule 4.05.4 so a plan for <br />stream channel restoration is not required. <br />(g) Not use persistent pesticides on the area during surface mining and <br />reclamation operations, unless approved by the Division; <br />Applicant - Persistent pesticides will not be used during surface mining an <br />reclamation operations. As required by USFWS Conservation measures; <br />all herbicides used in the vicinity of Reed Wash shall be non -toxic to fish <br />and other aquatic organisms. If use of non -toxic herbicides is not <br />possible, other measures could be used such as controlled burning or <br />biological or mechanical means to control tamarisk. <br />(h) To the extent possible, prevent, control, and suppress range, forest, <br />and coal fires which are not approved by the Division as part of a <br />management plan; <br />Applicant - To the extent possible range, forest and coal fires will be <br />prevented or controlled. <br />(i) In accordance with 4.15.1(2)(d), if fish and wildlife habitat is to be a <br />planned postmining land use designated pursuant to 2.05.5, the operator <br />shall, as appropriate and as approved by the Division: <br />(i) Select plant species to be used on reclaimed areas, based on the <br />following criteria: <br />(A) Their proven nutritional value for fish and wildlife, <br />(B) Their uses as cover for fish and wildlife, and <br />(C) Their ability to support and enhance fish and wildlife habitat after <br />release of bonds; and <br />Applicant - Plant species to be used on reclaimed areas has been <br />reviewed and approved by the DRMS. <br />Permit Application 2.05 -52 01/12 <br />
