The Applicant stated in Section 5.1 Dust Control-Disturbed Areas that dust from haul roads <br /> will be controlled by paving for all areas outside of the mining pit boundary. Please clarify if <br /> this statement refers to paving the portion of the haul road which is located outside of the <br /> permit boundary. <br /> 32. The Applicant has indicated that artesian conditions exist within the pit(see additional <br /> comments under Item No. 22 regarding the Brierley Report). Please provide the Division <br /> with the following information: <br /> a) Number of monitoring wells present. <br /> b) Location of all monitoring wells. <br /> c) Location where artesian conditions were observed. <br /> d) Depth(s)to groundwater. <br /> e) Specify the location of the uphill runoff pool relative to the locations with artesian <br /> conditions. <br /> 33. Please provide the dimensions of the stormwater collection ditch, sediment pond and sump. <br /> 6.4.8 Exhibit H—Wildlife Information <br /> No comment. <br /> 6.4.9 Exhibit I—Soils Information <br /> 34. The proposed Reclamation Plan calls for salvaging basalt fines for use as topsoil during final <br /> reclamation. Please specify if any soil testing has been conducted to determine amendment <br /> requirements and if so,provide the Division with the results of the soil test. Otherwise,the <br /> Division will include a cost for amendments in the financial warranty calculation as it is <br /> expected that the fines will need to be amended in order to successfully establish vegetation <br /> in the reclaimed areas. <br /> 6.4.10 Exhibit J—Vegetation Information <br /> No comment. <br /> 6.4.11 Exhibit K—Climate Information <br /> No comment. <br />
