Mr. Anderson &Ms. Adkins
Page 3
November 24, 2014
within the proposed permit area are significantly steeper than three percent. Please describe
what measures will be taken to control erosion at the site. The Division recommends installing
silt fencing around all excavations and topsoil stockpiles. A copy of the best management
practices for silt fencing has been enclosed with this letter.
• Active areas of digging to be permitted on the claim and all that include the area to be bonded,
do not exceed three percent grade.
6.3.5 Exhibit D -Reclamation Plan
7. The Applicant has stated the site will not be revegetated since the existing vegetation at the
site is sparse. The proposed post-mining land use is 'Forestry' and as such the Reclamation
Plan must specify the measures to be taken to revegetate the site, including the grass species
to be planted. The Reclamation Plan should include tree planting; the Applicant may wish to
contact the U.S. Forest Service for recommendations on tree planting. Please provide the
following information:
a. Explain how the seedbed will be prepared to eliminate compacted conditions (e.g.
plowed, chiseled, disced). *Area to be seeded will be hand plowed.
b. State the type, application rate, and soil incorporation methods of fertilizer application,
if any. We will be using stockpiled soils that were pre existing soils from the exact area
we are digging on to re plant.
c. State the grass, forb, shrub and tree species to be planted and applicable quantities.
Specify the quantity of each grass and forb species as pounds of pure live seed per acre.
Due to the sparse nature of the area to be re planted, we will be transplanting existing
forb and shrub and grasses to ensure there are no noxious plants introduced to the area.
d. Specify the application method for grass and forb seeding. If the seed is to be broadcast,
the application rate shall be twice the rate required for drill seeding. *Due to the sparse
nature of the area to be re planted, we will be transplanting existing forb, shrub and
grasses to ensure there are no noxious plants introduced to the area.
e. If mulch is needed, specify the kind to be sued, the ciiaping method, and rate of
application. The Division recommends applying hay mulch at a rate of two tons per
acre.*Mulch will not be needed
£ Explain the establishment methods for each species of shrub and/or tree, and state the
number of each to be established per acre.
*Due to the sparse nature of the area to be re planted, we will be transplanting existing
forb and shrub and grasses to ensure there are no noxious plants introduced to the area
to include no more plants will be introduced to the area than the number which are to
be transplanted, generally two plants per acre to include one pine tree and 3, 6"tufts of
native grass that are already up there. We do not wish to introduce grasses or seeds
from any other area to help protect the area from noxious weeds being introduced.
