Elbert Gravel Pit
Narrative
1. A. We are looking for the Elbert County Commissioners to approve the use of the Elbert
County Gravel Pit owned by Danny Paul Ardrey Estate Trust for an Effluent Storage Tank
Transfer Station for up to 4 operators.
B. Honey Bee Pumping Service has been operating a Storage Tank Transfer unit at the Elbert
County Gravel Pit for 7 years. Honey Bee Pumping uses the Storage Transfer Tank on an as
needed basis. We have been contacted by another licensed and insured company to use the
"Pit" as a transfer station.
C. Opening up the "Pit"to additional operators would utilize the existing infrastructure we
already have. It would minimally increase truck traffic. Possibly 2-3 trips per day total.
D. This will keep impact on County Roads down as a whole due to the location of the property
within Elbert County. Otherwise the pumpers will have to travel out and back into the County
to serve their customers. The visual of the property will very similar to what it already does
look like. Tanks set and clean.
2. The current zoning of the property is Agriculture.
3. A copy of the deed is included.
4. Proof of taxes is included.
5. The project should in no way impact the surrounding landowners. Retaining walls
surrounding tanks are in place in the case of a spill or leak. The bowl shape of the land in which
the tanks will sit are shielded from the neighbors to the south. The neighbors to the north are
approximately% mile away from the site. In the seven years that we have already had the
exact operation on the property there has been zero complaints from ANY neighbor.
6. The project fits the Elbert County Master Plan by adding services for the community.
Allowing more operators at the Gravel Pit would utilize existing infrastructure without stressing
current infrastructure. By allowing a station in Elbert County, operators can provide services at
lower cost to residents for septic pumping, therefore improving services and mitigating ground
water pollution.
7. The project needs no water or electricity.
8. There is a port-a-potty onsite, regularly serviced. No other utilities.
