Bond Release - 3 - August 27, 2014
Water monitoring data compiled in annul hydrology reports indicates the reclaimed mine site
does not have a significant impact on the regional groundwater and surface water systems.
There are no renewable resources above the abandoned underground workings so no
subsidence monitoring was or is required.
Approximately 6" of topsoil was placed on the access road reclaimed during 2006. During the 2007
reclamation, approximately 6" of topsoil was placed on the portal area, coal mine waste disposal
area and the westernmost topsoil stockpile. The source of all of the topsoil was from one of three
stockpiles.
The 2007 reclamation was completed in July 2007 before the preferred permanent seeding time.
Therefore, the temporary sterile cover crop, Quickguard, was planted as sections of the regrading
were completed during June and July. Permanent seeding and mulching was performed during
November 2007. No fertilizer was applied to the reclaimed areas.
The following seed mix was broadcast on the 2006 and 2007 reclamation at the rate of 17.85 pounds
of pure live seed per acre.
GRASSES
PLS /Acre
Streambank Wheatgrass (Sodar)
1.0
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba)
1.0
Basin Wildrye
1.0
Canada Wildrye
1.0
Galleta
1.0
Indian Ricegrass (Rimrock)
1.0
Alkali Sacaton
0.1
Sand Dropseed
0.1
Candy Bluegrass (Canbar)
0.4
FORBS
Purple Aster
0.5
Northern Sweetvetch
2.0
Lewis Flax
0.5
Palmer Penstemen
0.5
Rocky Mountain Penstemon
0.5
Showey Goldeneye
0.3
SHRUBS
Basin Big Sagebrush
0.5
Fourwing Saltbush
1.0
Shadscale Saltbush
2.0
Winterfat
2.0
Rubber Rabbitbrush
0.5
Skunkbush
1.0
