June 18, 2014C-1994-082/Yoast MineJHB
culvert inlet is also bent inwards and needs to be openedback up. The outlet of culvert YB-2 was fine.
Pond 11A was not discharging and was holding a pool of cloudy water approximately 1 foot below the primary
riser. The inlet of Pond 11A, north of drainage YPM-9 requires gully repair(Photo 5). The spring observed
southeast of Pond 11A embankment had dried up.
YPM13 drainage is holding together well. Damaged erosion fabric that appears to have been removed during
previous repairs has been left piled up next to YPM-13 drainage. This material needs to be removed. The east
branch of YPM13 continues to downcut. This branch (gully) appears to have been repaired previously. Gullying
is occurring on the slope above (south) of YPM-13 surge tanks (photo6).
A surge tank in the center drainage west of pond 11A is eroding in the drainage below the outlet. Repairs to this
drainage are necessary to slow the erosion. There were recent vehicle tire tracks on the embankment of this tank,
There is a patch of White topjust east (below) this surge tank.
Drainage YPM9 upslope (west) of pond 11A still requires repair at the intersection with a side drainage from the
south. This intersection is downcut and continuing to erode (photo4).
Drainage YPM-20 at the north end of Shrub plot SP07-1 continues to downcut. This area is downslope of a
slump, but the drainage along LU3A is downcutting. SCC needs to monitor the roadside ditch along this stretch
and regrade or correct if ditch becomes too downcut.
YPM-8, as it crosses LU3a has been reinforced with erosion control fabric, This fabric is undercutting on the west
side of the road. Repairs have anchored the side of the fabric, but the fabric is undercut. Maintenance is needed to
assure the continued integrity of the fabric reinforcement. Anchoring the fabric to the ground surface may help
keep the water flow on top of the fabric and not continuing to undercut(Photo 8).
Gully repair that has been conducted on the east side of LU3A is holding up well.
YPM-15 is holding up well, with no problems with this drainage observed.
Pond 12A was holding a pool of water and was not discharging.
YPM-1-1 Gabions and rip-rapped drainage held up well to Spring runoff. Most ofthe gabions in this drainage
have not been fully closed. SCC needs to complete wiring the tops of the gabions closed inthis drainage.
Gabions have held up well in drainage YPM 3-2.
Pond 14 and Pond 13 were holding water. Neither pond 14 or 13 were discharging at the time of the inspection.
Pond 12was discharging.
Number of PartialInspection this Fiscal Year: 9
Number of CompleteInspections this Fiscal Year: 4
310
Page of
