Please explain the overlap in DCF sample numbers?
Sample DCF-75 was completed on May 1 and should have been on the week ending 5/3 report and has
now been added (attached), DCF-76 was reported on May 10 weekly.
2) The SGVLF weekly report for the week ending 5/10/2014 listed TS sample numbers 59—61
(noted as "clay from WHEX"). There have been no "TS" samples reported since at least
before 8/17/13. Please explain the type of material designated as TS and summarize when
samples TS-01 through TS-58 were taken.
"TS" stands for Test Sample. These samples were taken for CC&V to assist with determining where
acceptable Soil Liner Fill sources are located for use in the VLF. These samples will not be reported in
the Record of Construction report as they are only an investigation/exploration tests for Soil Liner Fill
material(s). When a potential borrow source is discovered, testing is performed to see if it meets or has
potential after screening to meet the specifications. If it does, then the material will be sampled from
the stockpiles after screening as a control sample, then after placement in its final location will be tested
as a record sample. Testing of this material is sometimes intermittent depending on the size of the
source(s)found.
CC&V has historically provided our weekly construction activity progress reports to DRMS to
provide context around ongoing construction activity. It is important to note that the purpose of
these in-house reports is to document work in progress for the CC&V management team. They
are not intended as a complete weekly Record of Construction documents. The final certification
report will contain complete information that has been fully vetted for the SGVLF construction.
While, we welcome any questions you may have regarding these reports, we wanted to clarify
the intent of the reports, so you understand why there may be gaps in the information at times.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Sincerely,
Timm Comer
Manager, Environmental Resources
Cc.
