2. Minina Timetable
The following timetable is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the mine
after December of 2002 and is based on mining and selling 600,000 tons of total product per
year:
Table D -4
Task #
Description
Time Needed
Months
1
Prepare sediment pond and place berm
along I -70
0.25
2
Strip topsoil from Pit lto stockpile at
northwest corner of Pit 1
0.5
3
Bring in portable crusher, screen plant,
stackers, truck scale, and scale house.
0.25
4
Mine Pit 1
29.7
5
Reclaim Pitl and mine Pit 2
30.0
6
Reclaim Pit 2 and mine Phases 1 -3 of
Pit 3. Reclaim behind each Phase.
15.0
7
Mine Phases 1 -4 of Pit 4 and Reclaim
behind each Phase
25.1
8
Mine Phases 4 -7 of Pit 3 and then
Phases 5 -10 of Pit 4. Reclaim behind
each Phase
72.0
9
Remove all facilities
0.5
10
Reseed and mulch wetland areas
0.25
Total months
188.5
Total years
15.7
The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming areas as additional
mining is undertaken. Also, the southernmost phases of Pits 3 and 4 will be mined first since
these have much less overburden to move. Note: If large contracts are awarded to the site,
production could increase to the permit maximum, thereby curtailing the life of the pit. On the
other hand, if contracts are less than anticipated, the life of the pit could be extended. This table
15 Road Pit May 14 D -5
