April 21, 2014 C- 1992- 08I/Hayden Gulch Loadout JHB
the drainage in the ditch.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
HGTI is inter - seeding portions of the reclaimed loadout this week.
REVEGETATION — Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
HGT is in the process of mowing standing vegetation approximately 1 ft. high to allow broadcast inter -
seeding into the existing vegetation. No one was on the site during the inspection but equipment was stored on
site for mowing operation.
In a conversation with Mr. Karo on 4/23/2014, Roy said that HGT was broadcast seeding on 4/23.
Mowing high (- 8 -12 ") allows the established shrub species to not be damaged in the mowing process (Photo 24).
The mowing also resulted in breaking up of larger soil clods. The soil was dry at the time and free of snow.
Numerous sagebrush seedlings were observed on the reclaimed load out area. Flax was plentiful and numerous
perennial grasses are becoming established. Establishing vegetation is still rather thin. HGT has decided to
interseed to improve the stand in the areas that have thinly established vegetation. There is still a considerable
amount of pennycress (an annual) throughout the reclamation. Houndstongue is present in localized areas and not
considered an infestation at this time. HGTI needs to continue to monitor and control noxious species.
SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04:
The substation north of the former office trailer area remains on the site. A power pole with 2
transformers remains on the office area site. One 4" diameter PVC pipe remains at the SW area where the white
office trailer had previously been. Is the septic system associated with this pipe? (Photos 19 -22)
All other structures associated with the office trailers have been removed and the area regraded.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
Some of the topsoil stockpile markers /signs need to be installed appropriately. These are needed where
adjacent land management activities (plowing, cutting, etc.) come close to the permit area boundary. (Photo 12)
TOPSOIL — Rule 4.06
Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution 4.06.4:
Topsoil Stockpiles along the Tie - across Haul Road (TAHR) were inspected:
TS pile A: Has good vegetative cover, no signs of rills, noxious weeds were not present.
TS pile C: Has good vegetative cover. The south side of this pile is very steep but was not exhibiting erosional
features. Noxious weeds were not present.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4
Page 4 of 10
