Trapper Mining, Inc.
G 1981 -010; PR7
Adequacy Review No. 2
ii. Division's Response: The minimum surface water information required in accordance with
Rule 2.04.7(2)(b)(1) is the minimum, maximum and average flow which identify critical
low flow and peak discharge rates of streams sufficient to identiA, seasonal variations.
Trapper has identified two additional subdrainage basins within the expansion area; Deacon
and Jefkvay. For surface water within these subdrainage basins, Trapper will need to
submit the information required by Rule 2.04.7(2)(b)(1). If new surface water monitoring
sites are established, map M30 will need to be updated.
9. Prior to mining within the expansion area, the applicant will need to provide water quality data from surface
waters in, discharging into, or which receive flows from surface or ground water from affected areas within
the proposed permit area in accordance with Rule 2.04.7(2)(b)(11). The Division will stipulate the approval
of this revision to this affect.
a. Trapper's Response: Trapper proposes to estabbsln monitor6ig sites «itlli6i the Deaconi avid
Jeffivav Gulches to establbli baseline monitoring. Sampling will be coiducted utilizing the
approved sampling procedures acid parameters ivitlliin the current permit. Trapper will subunit
additiouiall requested infonnatioui p for to auiY miming 61 t➢ie permit expansioni area,
b. Division's Response: The Division will stipulate the approval of this revision to this affect.
10. In accordance with Rule 2.04.7(3); prior to mining in the proposed expansion area, Trapper will need to
evaluate if the mining operation may result in contamination, diminution, or interruption of an underground
or surface source of water within the proposed permit area and adjacent areas for domestic, agricultural,
industrial, fish and wild -life, or other legitimate use. The Division will stipulate the approval of this permit
revision to require Trapper to submit a permit revision with the information required by Rule 2.04.7(3) prior
to mining in the proposed expansion area.
a. Trapper's Response: Tlie currently submitted infonnatioui contained oui revised page 2 -524 is
applicable to tllie expams'oni area. Tllie proposed expam 'oui area exhibits s6ndar traits in geology and
gruowid water. See response to Comment 8 for f irtllier discuussioui oui growid Nvater impacts.
b. Division's Response: This item is resolved.
11. For the expansion area, please submit a map that depicts the location and extent of sub - surface water, if
encountered within the proposed permit and adjacent areas, including but not limited to areal and vertical
distribution of aquifers, and an estimate of seasonal variations of aquifer characteristics on cross section and
contour maps as appropriate; in accordance with rule 2.04.7(4)(c).
a. Trapper's Response: Tlne required iuformationi will be conta6ied ivitluin the upcom6ig 2013
Annuuall Hydrology Report. The locationi acid extent of sub - surface water- will be included 61 the
Water-Level lEllevatioui maps iu the 2013 AHR. The proposed neiv permit bowidary will be added
to these maps at that time, «ith the existing permit bowidary also included for referueuice.
b. Division's Response: Sections 2.7.53 and 2.7.5.3a of Trappers permit discusses baseline
groundwater levels and contains narratives, tables, figures and maps with the required information
from Rule 2.04.7(4)(c) for the current permit area. Please revise these sections with baseline
information for the expansion area or provide a new section containing the required information for
the expansion area. The M54 map series depicts the pre -mine water level elevations in the various
aquifers at the site; please update these maps with for the expansion area or provide a new map of
the M54 series with this information.
