Trapper Mining, Inc.
C- 1981 -010; PR7
Adequacy Review No. 2
extrapcllatioaa of the water -fee ell ellevatiom for the HI and CDR aquifers in the peranit
extems oaa area, Tlae structure map for the H seam was used iaa the extems'oaa of the water -
llevell ellevatiom for the Third White Sandstone because the base of this sandstone is near
the top of the H coall .
Tlae water -lee ell ellevatiom 61 the CDR agaaifer were extended iaa the peranit extems'oaa area
accounting for the change 6i the dip of these beds from the aaorth to the aaorthivest. This
structure change causes the water llevell contours to curve to the aaortheast iaa the peranit
extems oaa area resullting iaa growid -water flow to the aaorthivest instead of the aaorffiedt- flow
that occurs to the west of this area. Siandar changes iaa the flow directions iaa both the HI
and Third White Sandstone aquifers allso occur in the peranit extema 'oaa area and to the aaorth
of the extems'oaa area.
Three ground -water monitoring w elllls are proposed to be added in the aaorflleast cornea- of
the peranit additioaa area_ Tllaese welllls woaalld be complleted iaa the alllue fall, HI and CDR
aquifers iaa the peranit extems'oaa area.
Furrier Mee ant discussions to the hvdrellogic regime of the expama 'oaa area ivdll be covered
iaa the 2013 Annual Hydrology Report, inclludiaag extended Water-Level Ellee-atioaa amps
depictiaag the extent of subsurface water and overall geologic trends.
ii. Division's Response: Trapper's Permit section 2.7.5; Pre - Mining Conditions — Ground
Water, indicates baseline investigations covered the western portion of the permit area, i.e.
the area from Pveatt Gulch west. In 1985, baseline information was collected to cover the
eastern portion of the permit area, i.e. Pveatt Gulch and the area to the east. Specifically,
Sections 2.7.5.1 and 2.7.5. la, Sections 2.7.5.2 and 2.7.5.2a as well as Sections 2.7.5.3 and
2.7.3a, contain the baseline groundwater information for the current permit area. The
sections with an (a) at the end of the section number covers the eastern permit area.
Trapper's response to the first adequacy review indicates that there are changes to the
groundwater regime within the expansion area, though not dramatic. The response also
indicates relevant groundwater information will be updated with the annual hvdrologv
report. Baseline groundwater information should be included in permit section 2.7.5 that
currently, contains this information and not solely in the Annual Hydrology Report. Prior to
the approval of PR7, Trapper will need to add information about the ground water regime
required in Rule 2.04.7(1)(a) to the permit section 2.7.5 which contains the baseline
groundwater information. At this time, this item remains outstanding.
b. For the expansion area please update the surface water information contained in permit section 2.7.4
with the information required from Rule 2.04.7(2)(a) and (2)(b)(1).
i. Trapper's Response: Tlae surface water regime of the etpams'oaa area is si'auOar to the
existing penmtted miaae area. EE icllosed Tablle 2.7 -12 of sectioaa 2.74 has beeaa updated with
new Mfonnatioaa iaa regard to the expams'oaa area. Tlae remaining discussioaa w itllaiaa sectioaa
2.74 is stillll appllicablle to the expams'oaa area_ EE icllosed revised Map M -51 (sllaeet 3) and
Map M -31 ( included iaa the origiaaall PR -7 submitW) depict relevant surface water courses
and surroaanding water resources iaa the area. Prior studies and infonnatioaa gathered oaa the
characteristics of the surface water regimes of the Williams Fork Moaamai'm woulld pertaiaa
to the expams'oaa area. Trapper wdll submit additioaaall Mevant infonnatioaa as needed oaace
moautomig of the affected draiaaages is conducted.
