Savage and Savage
Memorandum
To: Ben Moline and Danny Kipp, Coors Energy Company
From: Michael Savage, Savage and Savage, Inc.
Date: April 2, 2013
Subject: First Quarter 2013 Pest and Disease Inspection; Keenesburg Mine
File #: C -81 -028
On March 29, 2013, we inspected operational, reclaimed, revegetated, and an undisturbed
native area at the Keenesburg Mine for evidence of plant pests, noxious weeds, and plant
diseases that could or have affected the re- established vegetation at the Keenesburg Mine.
Reclamation Areas 1, 2, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28, the permanent sediment pond, dugout,
Topsand Pile A -3, the bottom and perimeter of B Pit, portions of the Long Term Spoil
Area, the office and shop yard, and the native area to the west of B Pit were inspected by
vehicle and pedestrian means for any potential problems.
Having received snow in the past week, the surfaces of the areas inspected were damp. In
Reclamation Areas 26, 27, and 28, evidence of perennial cool season grass growth was
present. No evidence of warm season species sprouting was evident at this time.
Evidence of cheatgrass sprouting was present in the native areas inspected, but little
sprouting was observed within the reclamation areas.
I did not identify any disease conditions at any of the operational, reclaimed, or
revegetated areas of the mine site. I did not identify any plant pests which had affected
the growth of the vegetation during this past growing season. No areas which
experienced any infestation or blight were found during the inspection. No areas were
observed where weeds, plant pests, or disease showed a deleterious effect to the
reclamation vegetation.
C: Keenesburg Pest and Disease Inspection File
AHR -2013 2
