amedO ,,:,,:,t,,
IV) Storm Water Management Structures
A) Control Structures
No work performed during the week.
B) Best Management Practices
Best Management Practices are being observed throughout the Phase 5 VLF Project. Storm water
controls were maintained throughout the week. Precipitation was not substantial throughout the
week.
Storm water controls are being constructed in the East Cresson clay borrow as the area is
constructed.
V) VLF Primary Underdrain
Construction of the primary underdrain continued using a CAT D -9 dozer to rip frost in the area. The
frost and overburden material was loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks using a John Deere 850 excavator
and hauled to the overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A29 +00 ( + / -)
to A32 +00 ( + / -) right of centerline.
Construction of the Primary Underdrain continued using a CAT 330 excavator and a CAT D -9 dozer
to excavate the underdrain trench. Subgrade was inspected by an AMEC reF,resentative and found to
be competent and acceptable for geotextile placement. Geotextile (12oz /yd ) was then deployed and 6"
CPe perforated piping was then placed and coupled in the trench. Underdrain Fill material (UFM) was
then placed in a 3 -foot lift in the trench using a CAT 980 front -end loader and the geotextile was
wrapped around the UFM, overlapping a minimum of 2 feet. Select structural fill was then placed in a
minimum 6" lift using a CAT 980 front -end loader and moisture conditioned (when necessary).
Compaction was performed using a vibratory plate compactor. The remainder of the trench was
backfilled using a structural fill excavated from the trench previously. Approximately 250 linear feet
of the Primary Underdrain was installed during the week.
VI) VLF Geosynthetics
No work performed during the week.
CQA ACTIVITIES:
SUMMARY:
The CQA activities performed consisted of observing, documenting and recording the construction
activities of the contractor.
AMEC observed and documented ambient and fill temperatures, as well as the placement of structural fill
within the Phase 5 VLF fill area.
AMEC observed clearing, grubbing, and stripping topsoil at the East Cresson Clay Borrow.
AMEC observed the remediation of Underground Workings #3006 and #3007 constantly.
AMEC observed confirmatory drilling at Underground Working #3012 constantly.
VLF Weekly Report WE 02.06.10.D.doc
