2013 Annual Reclamation Report <br />Southfield Mine <br />good condition, the only required repairs or maintenance as noted below. In conjunction with <br />final site reclamation and ongoing site maintenance, EFCI completed the following specific <br />activities: <br />* Graded short sections of the mine site entrance road from Pond 5 westerly to the gate adjacent <br />to the abandoned Vento mine office building; <br />* Reshaped `bar trenches' across road to direct sheet flow to road ditch above the intersection of <br />CR92 and the refuse pile access road; <br />* Cleaned /graded road ditch adjacent to intersection of CR92 and refuse pile access road; the <br />steep section of the refuse pile access road; <br />* Added straw wattles and straw blanket and reseeded the road bank adjacent to the parking <br />area on Vento property in former facilities area; <br />* Installed straw wattle and approved seed mix on slope at north end of the truck tunnel; <br />* Removed sediment buildup in Pond 5 at the outlets of the two culverts located at the SW end <br />of the pond; <br />* Replaced the fabric extension Sock on Culvert S1 located at the north extent of the Monarch <br />Fan Road and re- graded the respective road ditch to direct flow into culvert; bladed 2 <br />sections of ditch on Monarch road and re- graded rutted section just north of the "Y" of <br />the Monarch Road and road to neighboring Davidson cabin; <br />* Removed accumulated sediment and reshaped approximately 300 feet of the drainage ditch <br />located along the toe of south slope of refuse pile; <br />* Plugged bullet holes in the vertical discharge standpipe at Pond 4; <br />* Replaced a broken cap on drill hole SF -87 -07 on Corley property; <br />* Removed four automobile tires, plastic bottles and cans from the Loadout site west of <br />Florence. <br />Map 1, Mine Site Reclamation, portrays the general location, dates, and areas of revegetation and <br />reseeding in and adjacent to the former Mine Facilities area. In addition, the map indicates the <br />locations of Mine Site reclamation activities completed during 2013. Dates of revegetation and /or <br />reseeding for the ancillary facilities areas and the Loadout area are shown on Map 2, Ancillary <br />Facilities Areas Reclamation and Map 3, Loadout Area Reclamation. <br />Disturbed, Backfilled and Topsoiled Areas <br />During the previous reporting period (2012) subsidence features were repaired at the abandoned <br />Canon National Mine located in Section 25. 0.50 acre consisting of six subsidence holes was <br />considered disturbed and therefore the subsidence features were cleaned of debris, backfilled, <br />compacted, re- topsoiled, seeded and mulched during October of 2012. The six holes had subsided <br />due to the shallow mine workings of the abandoned mine workings. Backfill material was used <br />from the adjacent abandoned spoils pile that had been left from the former mine facilities area. <br />The footprint of the removed portion of the spoils pile was also re- topsoiled, seeded and mulched. <br />3 <br />
