Table D -2 Tomichi Pit Mining Sequence
The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming areas as additional
mining is undertaken. The table shows that mining and reclamation will occur within
approximately 27 years and the total sand and gravel mined will be approximately 5.3 million
tons. This is based on computer grids generated from the topography and the available
exploration data. As previously stated, the life of the operation is very dependent upon demand,
therefore the predicted life is only approximate.
3. Mine Facilities and Operation
The facilities on site will consist of a crusher and screener, an asphalt plant, a wash plant, a
concrete plant, an office, and a truck scale. Processing equipment will be located within the
processing area shown on Map C -2 and C -213. Map C -213 shows the processing area during most
of the mine's life (through Stage 2 mining) when the processing area is located nearly at natural
grade at the south end of Stage 1. Map C -2 shows the processing area location on the Stage 1 pit
bottom, during the last stage of mining, when the original processing area is mined out. Waste
asphalt will be stored next to the asphalt plant and will be recycled into the plant as needed. Fuel
for the plants will come from on board fuel tanks. A fuel farm will be constructed on site to
provide for mobile equipment, and all tanks will be covered by the SPCC plan for the site.
Tomichi Pit, December 2013 D -3
Production
Year
peryear
Phase
Comments
Length of time to
complete (Yeats)
(tons)
Site preparation; access road construction,
1
truck scale installation, pit dewatering, etc.
0.25
Mining of deposit with concurrent reclamation.
1 -27
200,000
1 -2
26.23
Topsoiling of the final portions of necessary
27
disturbed areas.
