crushed rock will be placed in the processing area. These stockpiles will be up to 30 feet tall.
Asphalt and concrete will also be sold from the pit. The crushed product stockpiles will allow
mining to cease for portions of the year but allow for sales throughout the year. All stockpiling of
construction products will take place in the processing area.
Highway trucks will haul sellable material to market from the mine site. Truck traffic will utilize
Highway 50. Truck traffic will proceed along Highway 50 both east and west, depending on the
job. A CDOT access permit has been acquired by the permittee, and access improvements will
be made as required. The access road will be installed along an existing property access at 24
feet wide and with a three foot shoulder on each side (30 feet total). While internal haul roads
will be reclaimed, the access road will be left for permanent access. See Maps C -2 and F.
The sand and gravel deposits on this property are believed to be up to 55 feet deep, but Gunnison
Valley Properties, LLC only plans on mining to a depth of about 49 feet to supply local sand and
gravel needs. Water is expected to be encountered at a depth of approximately five feet. An
Augmentation Plan has been submitted to the local water court to offset the consumptive use of
this operation. Gunnison Valley Properties, LLC commits to not exposing this water until the
Augmentation Plan is approved. All Augmentation Plan information can be found in Appendix
1.
Four berms will exist during the life of the Tomichi Pit. Two will be temporary berms that will
be removed and their material used in reclamation, while two berms will be permanent. These
berms are: the Highway berm (permanent), the Signal Peak berm (permanent), the Stage 2 berm
(temporary), and the Processing berm (temporary). They can all be seen on Map C -213.
2. Mining Timetable
The following table (Table D -2) is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the
mine and is based on the maximum production of 200,000 tons per year.
Tomichi Pit, December 2013 D -2
