Liberty Mining, LLC
DRMS 110 -d Permit Application
October 2013
D (1.b) Maximum Gradient of Reclaimed Slopes
The maximum slope of the reclaimed mining operations pad, overburden and waste rock
stockpiles will not exceed 3:1. However, the eastern slope adjacent to the operations pad will
remain at the natural slope. Any remaining overburden and waste rock stockpiles during
reclamation will be placed an adequate distance from the edge of the mine operations pad to
prevent sloughing onto the natural slope below.
D (1.c) Re- vegetation
The majority of the mining operations will remain within the footprint of the previously disturbed
area. However, during construction of the mining operations pad, any topsoil that is removed
will be stockpiled on or near the existing topsoil stockpile and seeded for stabilization within
fourteen days of final closure.
Upon the closure of the mining operations and spreading of the topsoil stockpile, the site will be
seeded as weather and seasons permit. Optimally, the seeding will take place in late fall or
early spring to allow for adequate precipitation and appropriate temperatures for seed
germination. The mining operations pad will be of primary concern in regards to seeding.
Because of the natural steep and rocky slopes that currently exist, the slope to the east of the
mining operations pad will not be re- vegetated. The operations pad is to be left open and
accessible for recreational use after reclamation; no trees will be planted on the operations pad
during reclamation.
D (9.c.i) Vegetation Growth Medium Placement
After final grading and contouring of slopes, all soil within the disturbance area will be scarified
to a depth of four inches. The topsoil stockpile will be distributed evenly over the area and
scarified. If additional growth medium is required, soil will be imported from a pre- approved off
site location.
D (9.c.ii) Seed Time
Upon restoration of the site's topography and completion of the portal seal -off, the site will be re-
vegetated in accordance with BLM regulations. Vegetation and seeding rates proposed in
Table D (1.c.ii) below will be applied in either spring (April) or fall (September) months as
accessibility to the site allows. Seed will include pinon- juniper woodland assortments of
grasses, forbs and brush, a mix specified by the BLM.
Table D(1.c.ii)
Pr000sed Reclamation Seed Mixture for Libertv Mine Disturbance Areas
Vegetation Type
Scientific Name
Ibs /ac live seed
(P LS)'
Grasses (variety)
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba)
Pascopyrum smithii
1.8
Slender Wheatgrass (Primar)
Elymus trachycaulus
1.3
Pubescent Wheatgrass (Luna)
Agropyron trichophorum
2
Crested Wheatgrass (Nordan)
Agropryon cristatum
1
Liberty Mining, LLC Moab, Utah SMA Ref. 5821897 Page 27
