For areas that cannot be drilled, broadcast seeding
will be used with one and one -half times the drill seeding rate.
D (1.c.iv -v) Seeding and Mulching
The seeding method will either be drill seeding at the acceptable rate or broadcast seeding at
one and one half times the acceptable rate of drill seeding. The area will be mulched as needed
and previously cleared trees and natural debris will be placed in a random fashion to assist re-
vegetation and create habitat for small animals.
A noxious weed survey will be conducted on the site in spring and fall months to determine the
presence of weeds. Detection of weeds will result in the application of a BLM and Mesa County
approved herbicide in an effort to control the noxious weed population.
D (1.c.vi) Plant Establishment
The geologic and topographic setting of the mining pad indicates a minimal existing soil
thickness. Plant establishment for the mine operations pad will be consistent with the
vegetation rates for similar settings. The shrub planting rate will be 10 -30 trees per acre in an
effort to maintain consistency with the surrounding area.
During the bi- annual weed survey, a re- vegetation monitoring program will also be conducted to
assess the success of the re- vegetation efforts. If necessary, additional re- vegetation efforts will
be implemented as soon as seasonally possible.
D (1.d) Remaining Structures Post - Reclamation
No structures, channels, berms or ponds will remain after reclamation is complete with the
exception of wattles, drainage channels, culverts, and inlet structures necessary to maintain the
mine access road, which is to be left open for recreational access, and to protect stormwater as
needed. The wattles, inlet structures and culverts will be periodically checked for sediment and
debris throughout mining and reclamation activities and will be cleaned if necessary. The
structures will be cleaned at the end of reclamation activities.
D (1.e) Location Specific Reclamation
Reclamation will commence no later than one month from the end date of mining activities, or in
conjunction with final mining activities, contingent on seasonal accessibility.
