expansion was done consistent with existing approved practices for sloping and
construction methods. This expanded area added 3.2 Acres to the WRSF. The new
area remains within the previously disturbed area and does not add any additional
acreage to the 60 acres of permitted disturbed area. The topsoil stockpile has been
protected with Silt Fence and will be seeded at the appropriate time this fall to
accommodate sprouting of the approved Seed mixture in the spring of 2014. (Refer to
Figure 10 and 11 attached)
In addition to the above -noted items, the work permitted under TR -19 and TR -20 last
year has been completed. The Fabric - covered structure to house the Shot Crete
batching equipment and the concrete slabs associated with the building are complete.
The Core Logging facility and associated pad and retaining wall work has been
completed. RGS also constructed a cover over the fuel containment at the Bulldog Mine
site. The cover involved setting a concrete footing for the containment to be bolted into
and then covering the containment with a single - sloped roof. This structure is designed
to prevent snow and rain from entering the containment. This work is all complete.
In addition to these new disturbed areas, there was one other action taken this year on
the permit. It is as follows:
Revision # AM -1 /Amendment #1 to Permit # M1977 -215 approved July 12, 2013
which included the addition of permitted acreage for future mining - related activities. This
action raised the total permitted acreage to 568.0, but did not change the approved
affected area of 60.0 acres. (Refer to Figure 14 attached)
Reclamation
Reclamation of the slope below the New Core Shed referenced above and permitted
under TR -20 was completed in June 2013 along with the installation of straw waddles to
prevent any slope erosion. This area has achieved stabilization and exceeds 70% of
pre- disturbance status.
The area where work was completed at the Vent Raise was re- seeded in July 2013
along with the Topsoil Stockpile for same area immediately upon completion of the
project. The City Water Line disturbed area was also seeded immediately upon
completion of the pipe installation and backfill. The timing of the re- seeding in these
areas coincided with the beginning of the monsoon season, which allowed excellent
sprouting and growth of the placed seed product. The areas achieved at least a 70%
growth rate as compared to pre- disturbed status. These areas will be seeded again just
before the next anticipated snowfall to assure that the seed will sprout in the spring.
(Refer to Figures 9, 15, 16, 17, and 18 attached)
In August, 2013, disturbed ground immediately adjacent to the 9400 portal road, the
area below the upper waste rock storage facility(including the Stockpile of topsoil for
future reclamation) were seeded and waddles with silt fence installed as double
protection from erosion. Additionally, the area surrounding the southern holding pond
was also re- seeded. Re- seeding was conducted by RGS personnel by method of hand-
112 East 12t" Street P.O Box 610 Creede, CO 81130
719 -658 -1 080 Fax 719 -658 -1082
