Greeley, Colorado under the <br />direction of the Town of Wiggins and the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board. Funding for the project was obtained <br />through a one percent sales tax by the Town and State grants <br />from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs in 1986 and <br />1987. The Project lands were purchased by fee title from <br />private land owners. Long term leases for land were <br />obtained from the Burlington Northern Railroad and the <br />Colorado Department of Highways (see APPENDIX E). <br /> <br />The Project consists of the following project features: <br /> <br />o A right bank setback levee system extending upstream from <br />the eastbound lane embankment of the U.S. Interstate <br />Highway 76. <br /> <br />o Channel improvements extending upstream from U.S. Highway <br />6 to Morgan County Road uP". <br /> <br />o Closure structures for U.S. Highway 6 and the Burlington <br />Northern Railroad (BNRR). <br /> <br />o An elevated roadway section of Morgan County Road uP". <br /> <br />o Embankment protection for the BNRR. <br /> <br />o Special scour protection for the BNRR bridge. <br /> <br />o Erosion protection for the levee section. <br /> <br />The improved channel begins downstream of the intersection <br />of Morgan County Road "P" and Kiowa Creek and continues in a <br />Northerly direction along the original alignment of Kiowa <br />Creek to the U.S. Highway 6 bridge.
