<br />". <br /> <br />INTERIM REPORT OF JUNE 1947 <br />SECTION I - ENGINEERING DATA <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Part 1 _ General <br />This Seotion I of the Interim Report of June 1947 is devoted <br />to desoriptions and disoussions of the Data oompiled by the Engineering <br />Committee, whioh data are assembled in tentatively numbered tabulations <br />hereto attaohed. Relative locations of plaoes herein mentioned and <br />designated on the tabulations are shown by the attached general map of <br />the Arkansas River basin in Colorado and western Kansas. Summaries and <br />more detailed explanations of the Engineerin( Data appear in following <br />parts of this ssotion of the Interim Report, under the headingsl Part 2 ~ <br />Streamflow Data, Part 3 . Diversion Data, Part 4 ~ Reservoir Data, and <br />Part 5 . Other Data. (Part 5 is in preparation). <br />In goneral, the Engineering Data were compiled by months, and are <br />tabulated in units of 1,000 acre feet. The attached tabulations show <br />monthly quantities, sums by six-month summer seasons April to September <br />inclusive, and by six-month winter seasons October to the following March <br />inclusive, and sho" annual totals by twelve-month water-years October to the <br />following September inclusive. Water_year accounting conforms with <br />practices of federal and state reporting agencies, and was adopted to <br /> <br /> <br />facilitate studies of assumed plans for operations of John Martin Reservoir. <br /> <br /> <br />Monthly, seasonal and annual averages are shown on the attaohed <br /> <br /> <br />tabula tions for the historic period seleoton fo,,- study. purposes, beginning <br /> <br /> <br />October 1, 1907, when the stream gaging station was established on the <br /> <br /> <br />Arkansas River at Holly, Colorado, near the Stateline between Colorado and <br /> <br /> <br />Kansas, and ending September 30, 1942, shortly before John Martin Reservoir <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />.1. <br />
