Metropolitan Water Supply Investigations - Phase II Plan of Study
8/16/94 5:04 PM

Page 14

V ia inspection and review of existing information, develop preliminary
responses to each of the listed topics, along with supporting data. No
additional modeling studies will be done as a part of this task unless easily
accomplished via existing modeling tools.

c) Output

A task memorandum with accompanying graphs and tables, Quantitative data
to be developed on a monthly basis for the Denver Water period of study
(1950-1991) if feasible. A narrative description of South Plane River
operations, identifying primary users, operational criteria, spill occurrences,
. existing exchanges and constraints for additional exchange potential.
Tabulations of basic data and information including streamflows, diversions,
effluent discharges, endangered species issues and water quality as necessary.

d) Sub-Task Leader: Lee Rozaklis

6. Sub-Task 4f: Identify Potential Effluent Demands

a) Purpose
Define and quantify existing and future potential demands for reusable effluent
from metropolitan area wastewater treatment plants and urban return flows and
the timing of those demands. The categories or types of potential demands
will include potable reuse, non-potable reuse for municipal and industrial uses,
exchange, and agricultural reuse. Characterize effluent exchange potential
under existing and pending rights. Characterize agricultural effluent reuse
potential involving the Burlington system.

b) Approach

Interview applicable system managers to determine best sources of information
regarding potential municipal and industrial demands for reusable effluent.
This should include, but not be limited to Aurora, Denver, Arvada, Thornton,
Westminster, Englewood, Linleton and Lakewood.

Compile and review existing information related to effluent management
opportunities developed by Metro, Denver Water, Aurora and others.

Characterize effluent exchange potential and agricultural reuse potential
involving the Burlington system incorporating the results of Sub-task 4e.

Identify existing reuse systems currently in place, planned or under
development, e.g. DIA, Gateway

Estimate reuse demand potential for each type of demand
