..

,.

.

/.

"

..

.).., r'!~
..e...Jv

these reservoirs will be suited to wat~r recreation, others will

have but little or nD value.

a. At Blue Eesa, the water level will relllain con-

stant. This important factor, together With the location adjacent to

a main cross country highway and relatively near the Black Canyon of

the Gunnison National konument indicates that it should provide an

outlet for considerable recreational activity in this region. It is

believed ttat day, overnight and week end use can be expected. De-

lnand for boating facilities, summer home sites and possible demand for
group camping sites can be anticipated. On the basis of this study'

and investigation, it is felt that the development of facilities to

meet these demands is justifiable.

b. At Gateview and Cebolla, some changes in water

levels can be expected during the recreation season, and variations.in

levels from year to year can be expected also. from information at

hand it is believed that these two areas should provide an outl~t for

minor recreation activity. Although it is believed there will be a

demand for such facilities as outlined for Blue Mesa, it appears that

the annual visitor use ~hich these two sites can be expected to receive

will be less than at Blue .iesa. It is felt, Lerefore, that any

initial development should be less extensive than at Blue Mesa.

c. Although the water level at Taylor Park

Reservoir can be expected to remain very nearly constant throughout

the recreation season, considerable variation in levels can be expected

from year to year. Further study discloses that, with t..le construction

of th" Almont Dam, the present access road to .raylor Park wDuld be

22
