-52-

canal buy and sell many Jackson Lake Reservo~r rights each year.

The company supposedly uses its company-held Jackson Lake rights

,

under its ditch, and does not lease them out.
,The upper Platte and Beaver Canal Company owns 33 "private
rights" in Jackson Lake Reservoir and individual farmers under

the upper Platte and Beaver Canal own an additional 165-1/2

"private rights" for a total of 198-1/2 rights.

7. Deuel and Snyder Ditch
The Deuel and Snyder Ditch is located on the north side of

the South plattt River downstream from Fort Morgan. It is opera-

ted by the Deuel and Snyder Improvement Company, apparently a

mutual irrigation company. The company owns direct flow decrees

from the river and may also own some "reservoir" shares. Farmers

under the ditch also own "private rights" in various reservoirs.

These reservoir shares are frequently leased on a seasonal basis.

The ditch can be seen on theU.S.G.S. Quadrangle maps for

the Fort Morgan and Brush West Quadrangles.

8. Lower platte and Beaver Canal

The Lower Platte and Beaver Canal is located on the south

side of the river downstream from Fort Morgan and the upper Platte

and Beaver Canal. It is controlled by the Lower Platte and

Beaver Canal Company, which is, so far as we know, a mutual irri-

ga ti on company.

The Secretary of the company is Senator Frank L. "Ted" Gill
of Hil1rose, who keeps all of its books and records. The company

owns "reservoir" shares in various reservoir companies, as well

as direct flow rights from the river.
