There are 1,543 shares of stock in the company outstanding,
each of which represents 1/1,543 of the water stored in the reser-

voir.

,.

There are 1,028 of the outstanding shares owned by the Fort

Morgan Reservoir and Irrigation Company, which as a result, con-
trols the company; The water represented by those shares is used

exclusively in the Fort Morgan Ditch for the benefit of the far-

mers under that ditch, and is never leased out elsewhere on a

seasonal basis.

(There may be, however, intra-system transfers

under the Fort Morgan Ditch, of which no records are kept).
The remaining 515 shares, which are often referred to as

"private rights",are owned by other ditch companies and by far-

mers located under other ditches. There is a brisk trade each

season in these 515 "private rights" with records being kept by

the Jackson Lake Reservoir Company only in a very general way, as

will be later explained.

The brisk trade in these 515 "private rights" is handled

.

almost entirely by John L. Samples, the Water Commissioner.

.

The 515 "private rights" are owned by farmers (or ditch

companies) who take the water under the following systems;

.

upper Platte & Beaver Canal 198.50 shares
*Lower Platte & Beaver Canal 274.50 shares
Deuel & Snyder Ditch 15.00 shares
Bijou Canal 21.00 shares
"Delivery point unknown" 6.00 shares

515.00
*Of these 274.5 shares, 194.5 are owned by the Hillrose Irriga-
tion District and the balance of 80 shares by private
individuals.

.

WOOOWARD.CLYDE.SHERARD AND ASSOCIATES
