UUUft',

.

.

.

cooperating agencies. Following receipt of the Commissioner's comments,
the report will be revised and transmitted to Washington for further
action.

Final cost estimates for all project features of the Bluestone Project
have been approved for use in the proposed feasibility report and sup-
porting appendixes. Financial and economic analyses and report prepa-
ration are in progress but are awaiting receipt of final data from
cooperating agencies. Completion of the proposed feasibility report
scheduled for October 1968 will be delayed 4 to 6 months.

On the Grand Mesa Project, plan formulation studies are essentially com-
plete and the geological investigations, collection of agricultural
economic data, and preparation of design data are in progress. Other
studies nearing completion are water supply and land classification and
drainage investigations. Coordination with the Forest Service, Bureau
of Outdoor Recreation, Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, and the
Colorado Department of Game, Fish, and Parks on multiple-purpose aspects
of the plan are continuing. The proposed feasibility report is sched-
uled to be completed by the end of FY 1970.

Feasibility investigations consisting of plan formulation studies, includ-
ing possible power generation at Taylor Park Reservoir, and the collection
of water supply field data are still in progress on the Upper Gunnison
Project. The proposed feasibility report is scheduled for completion
in FY 1971.

The Yellow Jacket Project proposed feasibility report was completed early
in October and distributed to Federal, State, and local agencies for com-
ment. The project would regulate flows of the North Fork of White River
and tributaries of Yampa River to provide irrigation water for 23,610
acres of land, develop 55,500 acre-feet of water annually for municipal
and industrial purposes, and provide recreation and fish and wildlife
benefits.

Feasibility investigations on the Basalt Project are proceeding satis-
factorily. The proposed feasibility report is scheduled for completion
at the end of FY 1971.

Feasibi~ity investigations have now been initiated on the Lower Yampa
Project (formerly identified as the Juniper and Great Northern Projects).
A notice of initiation of investigation is being sent to all Federal,
State, and local agencies advising of the investigations and soliciting
their comments, suggestions, and expressions of their interest. Initially,
studies will be made of the mineral, land, and water resources along the
lower reaches of the Yampa River and its tributaries to its junction with
the Green River. Recently the, Colorado River Water Conservation Dis-
trict and the Great Northern Water Conservancy District notified us they
would have funds available sometime after January 1969 to transfer to
the Bureau for use in expediting the Lower Yampa Project studies in
Colorado.

4
