re~ain in the 1,30~ 1,400 cfs range through ~'end of December
order to reach our ~;rage target at Blue Mesa.

in

NAVAJO October inflow into Navajo was well below average,
precipitation during September and October was fairly light.

The high inflow during August and early September increased storage to
a seasonal high. Therefore, in order to reduce reservoir storage to an
Rppropriate level in anticipation of next years runoff, releases from
the reservoir were increased to 750 cfs on October 5th. currently,
releases are near this level and it is anticipated that releases will
remain near this level until next spring, however adjustments to this
(~lease may be made as expected inflow changes.

as

GLEN CANYON - Inflow was near average during October. Water year 1993
inflow was 13.95 MAF or 111 percent of the long term average. Due to
the ending of the drought in the Colorado River Basin, the soil moisture
deficit has been erased and water year 1994 inflow is expected to be'
near average levels.

As most of you are aware the habitat maintenance release scheduled for
~pril 1994, has been canceled and is reflected in this update. Because
of this cancellation, we will begin a release pattern from Glen Canyon
similar to the alternative release pattern presented in the 1994 AOP.

Nlditionally, you will notice a large increase in the bank storage
oolumn on Lake Powell in October 1993. This is the result of our mostly
completed effort to compile all of our historical records under
,c;onsistent procedures and assumptions. The number shown in bank storage
in October is our best estimate of what this number should be based on
this study and effort. We expect to finalize this effort by the end of
December. At it's completion we will make the historical adjustments.
l~ anyone has questions about this effort, please feel free to call Brad
vickers at (801) 524-5576.

Releases from Glen Canyon will continue to be made under the interim
41010' restrictions.
