There 'are 2 researc!J.o.t'tJPe investigations currently, <br />underway in northwe'steri1Pinal County and the Salt River Valley aieas. <br />These projects em'braceboth geologic and hydrologic studies and include the <br />collection of new data as well as the review and analySis of eJdsting data. <br /> <br />Progress during the period on Federal projects is' as follows: The <br />special studifllsrequested by the BureaU of Reclamation on the :YUma Mesa <br />area have bee!,\comp1eted and the report released. The work of geologic <br />mapping in the! Mogollon' Rill1I'egion was continued as part of, the-long-range <br />investigation pfthe Waterresourcies of centra;L AriZona. The regional in- <br />vestigation of, the Navajo-!Iopi Indian nese:rvations, is nearingC6mp~etion <br />and the comprehensive report on the ground-water resources 'of"thisarea iil <br />now in the final stagea of'preparation. The Navajo well.oclevelopment program, <br />in cooperation'with the Navajo Tribal,Council, was continued for fiscal <br />year 1957 on a' reduced'scale.
