. downstream from the dam and installation of the 250-ton powerplant over-

head crane. Overall completion of the contract is about 80 percent.

On May 23 the Bureau of Reclamation will open bids for the removal

of water from the outlet works stilling basin at Navajo Dam. This will

include construction of a coffer dam around the area and pumping of

water so that prospective bidders for repair and modification of the out-

let works stilling basin may inspect the work site. Bids for the modifi-

cation work will be taken shortly after the stilling basin is dewatered,

probably around the first of August.

~ On the Silt Project, surfacing of relocated Colorado State Highway

325 across Rifle Gap Dam will start this month. The road surface is one

of the finishing touches to the $4 million project, which will start sup-

plying irrigation water this sunnner. The project is expected to be com-

pleted by the first of June. The reservoir is now about one-third full.

Modification of the diversion works, for the Smith Fork Feeder Canal

of the Smith Fork Project is essentially completed.

The contractor at Silver Jack Dam, Bostwick Bark Project, has resumed

work after being shut down since last November. Last fall the damsite area

was cleared and stripping operations were nearly completed.

The contract for repairs to the lining of the Gunnison Tunnel on the

Uncompahgre' Project was completed on March 22, 1967.

The major features of the CRSP transmission system still under construc-

tion are the Poncha-Midway 230-kv line and substations at Midway and Rifle,

all scheduled for completion in 1968. In the near future we will be em-

barking on the installation of a new type of equipment for the transmission.
