Those contractors who were forced to suspend operations for

the winter are now back on the job and construction goes ahead in full

swing.

At Glen Canyon Dam the contractor has essentially finished all work

connected with installation of the left diversion tunnel plug and spill-

way elbow. The new visitor center at the dam nears completion. We ex-

pect to have it open sometime in July to acconnnodate the many visitors

to the area this summer.

The completion contract at Blue Mesa Dam is about 80 percent com-

plete. Because some delay has been experienced in installation of the

turbines: and electrical work, we now estimate that the first generator

will go on the line sometime in July, rather than June.

Concrete placements in Morrow Point Dam were started for the season

on March 27. The dam will be topped out this summer--probably about the

end of August. The contractor has been busy through the winter on other

phases of the work. He has completed placement of concrete in the under-

ground powerplant; has completed the concrete work in both penstocks and

in both draft tube tunnels; and is placing concrete in the stilling basin

and the weir. Work is also progressing on excavation of the river channel
